Track 19 - 19th of April (Gaidanet & Tunji Beier on Mridangam and Cajon)
So nice to have a track on this album with Tunji Beier who is an extraordinary percussionist and a great friend and musical colleague of many years. We have played together for over 20 years in the duo 'Dva' having first met in 1997 in a cross-cultural music project that Tunji was directing in Bayreuth, Germany. Tunji has a background in Sth Indian music and trained with his guru TAS Mani in Bangalore for 3 years from when he was 16 years old. On this track he plays mridangam and cajon. Tunji recorded with both instruments and then sent me the track and I decided to add Gaidanet (an instrument design of mine that utilises gaida (Macedonian bagpipe) fingering but is really a small narrow bore clarinet).
